Greek moussaka (Greece)

Ingredients

  • 6 eggplants
  • 150 ml olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 600 g ground mutton or lamb
  • salt
  • pepper
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 100 g grated cheese
  • 3 egg
  • 250 ml heavy cream

Preparation

1 Peel and slice the egg plants. Fry them in oil. Sauté the onion and minced meat on the remaining oil. Add seasoning.
2 Grease the bottom of a porcelain baking dish and layer the eggplants and meat alternately.
3 Finish with a layer of eggplants. Sprinkle cheese and pour the egg and cream mixture on top.
