#FoodSimplified – Fruit Crumble
One of the finest British classics, the balance of subtly sweet yet tart berries with a gorgeously golden crumb proves to be a sublime combination time and time again.
Whilst most of us cook our evening meals regularly, making dessert is more often reserved for special occasions. As we endure the cold winter evenings however, there’s nothing better than indulging in a deliciously warm sweet – winter is truly perfect the time for comfort food and indulgence!
So, warm those chilly evenings and satisfy that sweet tooth craving with this fruit crumble recipe. Combining simple ingredients with an easy method, you’ll be able to rustle it up in no time!
Ingredients:
125g butter |
250g flour |
15g brown sugar |
75g porridge oats |
50g almonds |

400g frozen berries |
30g muscovado sugar |
½ tsp ginger |
½ tsp cinnamon |
|
Vanilla ice cream |
Method
- Dice 125g of cold butter and add to a mixing bowl
- Add flour to the bowl and mix until it resembles a coarse crumb
- Add brown sugar, oats and almonds and mix
- Fill an ovenproof dish with berries
- Add muscovado sugar to the fruit
- Cover the fruit with the crumble mixture
- Sprinkle ginger and cinnamon onto the crumble
- Bake in an oven at 200°C for 40 minutes or until the crumble is golden
- Serve with ice cream
