House to home interior design essentials

The word home means different things to different people, and, although by definition, the term is little different to ‘house’, there’s no denying the power of a genuinely homely atmosphere. Creating this kind of feeling in your interior isn’t easy, it takes time and personalisation, but there are a few key things to consider when trying to make your house a home:
Bookcase
The classic mantra that books furnish a room is certainly not unfounded. If you’re looking to create a classy, traditional vibe in your living room, a bookcase can go a long way to achieving this. You don’t need an extensive collection either, try furnishing the shelves with pictures, trinkets and vases for some alternative finishing touches.
Armchair
Nothing says luxury quite like an armchair. Lavish or understated, an armchair elevates a lounge and provides a centrepiece for comfort, style and reflection. Wooden-backed mid-century designs are a great option for a vintage feel, whereas large velvet accent chairs bring a bold, contemporary flair to a room.
Soft
furnishings
Soft furnishings are essential to an
authentic home-like feeling. Woolly throws on the sofa or oversized, bohemian
runners on the dining table add comfort and warmth to a space. Try to blend
subtle with bold and make sure you rotate styles and fabrics to match the
seasons.
Plants
House plants are a great way to bring life
into your interior, adding a touch of vibrant colour and an earthly element.
Make a nod to the offerings of mother earth with a blend of foliage both native
and exotic, big and small; aloe vera, orchids and spider plants are easily
maintained and easily found, and bamboos and yuccas are great larger, statement
options.
Statement
appliance
Last but not least, it’s important to consider
the dynamics a statement appliance can add to your interior. Our Retro fridge
freezers, for instance, provide a vintage, eye-catching addition to your kitchen
or living area. Combining timeless design on the outside, and contemporary
technology on the inside, these fridges really are both style and substance.
