Intelligent home >>>

We in Gorenje are well aware that being good today is just not good enough for tomorrow. Development of contemporary technologies is of crucial importance for the company to maintain its competitive edge on global market. To this end, we decided to develop our own type of control interface for remote control of household appliances. The name for the device is the Gorenje Intelligent home.

The web page you are just looking at, dear customer, brings you an insight into the future. Just click the button at the bottom of your computer and the user interface will be activated. It is just the type you will be able to have in your kitchen very soon. It works as a simulation i.e. instead of operating the real appliances it communicates with the computer which imitates the operation of some household appliances. Thus it creates the image of a real kitchen and possibilities for the future.

Today, the Gorenje Intelligent home is available in two forms:

  • standstill interface (an independent device such as webpad, the display of a personal computer, TV screen ……..),
  • mobile interface for pocket PC or a mobile phone connected to the network via WLAN interface.
The standstill type of interface is presented on this website.

What are you going to see at the presentation:
Here below some appliances with their interfaces are presented. We would particularly like to draw your attention to new additional possibilities provided by such interfaces:
Interactive cooking recipes  – the cooking recipe guides the chef through food preparing procedures and, at  the same time, sets on the oven or cooking plates.
Energy management –  household appliances power consumption (connect load) still remains the highest item on the electricity bills in  households of western Europe. Energy management will help you to reduce your  electricity bill as the appliances actually talk about how much energy they use. In case of overload, the appliances will  turn off automatically  (for example: water heater or washing machine water heater).
Safety systems – in addition to warning sounds triggered by the appliances themselves, the Intelligent home may act as a central alarm device having much more potential than the existing simple alarm devices currently in use.

The following appliances are presented:
Washing machine:
You may choose between basic and additional programmes or  automatic washing programme selection.
Basic and additional programmes enable you to  select the  type of linen, set the washing temperature, revolutions, delayed start, select  additional functions (pre-washing, additional rinsing, more water).
Automatic setting enables you to choose the type of linen - coloured, degree of dirtiness, quantity and the washing start time - all the rest will be calculated by the appliance itself (however, allowing you to change the features as you wish).
Prior to start up of the programme, the time and water consumption as well as the selected programme (settings) will be displayed.
You may follow the washing process throughout the washing cycle. The programme will automatically detect and indicate any failures.
You may also refer to symbols for correct washing of linen.

Water heater:
The current water temperature is displayed. You may change the set temperature to the one you desire, you may choose the economy operation or protection against freezing. You may also turn off the water heater.
All above operations may be harmonized in terms of time setting.

Kitchen-range:
The heating power, delayed start and period of heating may be determined for each cooking element. You may also turn the cooking off ahead of  the set time.

Oven:
You may select your own way of roasting (baking) or choose among automatic settings for individual type of food.
When choosing your our own settings you may choose among  functions provided by the oven. For each function you then set the temperature, delayed start and baking time.
The programme records the baking process and can be terminated if so desired.

Refrigerator:
Current temperatures in cooling and freezing part of the refrigerator are displayed. Both temperatures may be altered; the freezing part offers the possibility of fast freezing.

Light control:
You may choose the  light intensity you desire (none, strong, normal, romantic, etc.)
You determine the time when the lights go on or off and how long are the intervals between on and off.

Cooking recipes:
A variety of cooking recipes for any occasion.

Electrical energy management:
Power management – power consumption management enables you to control the power used by your appliances, how long are they turned on and how much does this cost you. On the basis of  the electric power grid capacities (load) the programme will co-ordinate the time when and which  appliances should  turn on as to the set priorities. In this way, the overloads will be avoided,   the connecting power (load) will be lower  thus diminishing the costs.
